Product Description:
Entrectinib is an oral, small-molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor used in the treatment of specific advanced cancers driven by genetic alterations. It is approved for use in adults with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that is ROS1-positive, as well as in adults and pediatric patients aged one month and older with solid tumors that harbor an NTRK gene fusion. These cancers are typically aggressive and may have limited treatment options, making targeted therapies like entrectinib especially valuable.
Entrectinib works by selectively inhibiting the activity of TRK, ROS1, and ALK proteins, which play a critical role in cancer cell signaling, growth, and survival. By blocking these abnormal signaling pathways, entrectinib helps slow or stop tumor growth and may lead to the death of cancer cells. One of its notable features is its ability to penetrate the central nervous system, making it effective in treating cancers that have spread to the brain.
