Fesoterodine fumarate is an antimuscarinic agent prescribed to manage symptoms of an overactive bladder, including frequent urination, urgency, and urge incontinence. It works by blocking muscarinic receptors in the bladder, leading to muscle relaxation and improved bladder control. The product is marketed as Toviaz in both the USA and EU, available as 4 mg and 8 mg extended-release or prolonged-release tablets for once-daily use.
Fesoterodine fumarate is available in Tablets
and strengths such as 4 mg, 8 mg.

Product Description:
Fesoterodine fumarate is a muscarinic receptor antagonist used for the management of overactive bladder symptoms, including urinary urgency, increased frequency, and urge urinary incontinence. It exhibits muscle relaxant and urinary antispasmodic properties that help control involuntary bladder contractions. After administration, fesoterodine is rapidly hydrolyzed in the body to its active metabolite, 5-hydroxymethyltolterodine, which is responsible for its therapeutic effects.
The active metabolite works by selectively binding to and inhibiting muscarinic receptors located on the bladder detrusor muscle. This action blocks the effects of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that triggers bladder contractions, thereby reducing spasms and preventing involuntary urine leakage. As a result, fesoterodine promotes relaxation of bladder smooth muscle, increases bladder capacity, and improves urinary control.
Importantly, 5-hydroxymethyltolterodine demonstrates minimal interaction with alpha-adrenergic, serotonergic, histaminergic, or excitatory amino acid receptors, contributing to its targeted activity and favorable safety profile. The active metabolite is primarily eliminated through renal excretion. When used as prescribed, fesoterodine fumarate provides effective symptom relief and improves quality of life for patients with overactive bladder.
