Product Description:
Sincalide, marketed under the brand name Kinevac, is a synthetic cholecystokinetic peptide used as a diagnostic agent for evaluating gallbladder and pancreatic function. It represents the 8-amino acid C-terminal fragment of cholecystokinin (CCK-8) and mimics the physiological actions of natural CCK.
Sincalide is primarily administered by injection to stimulate gallbladder contraction, allowing for functional assessment via imaging techniques such as ultrasonography or contrast cholecystography. It is also used to facilitate collection of concentrated bile through duodenal aspiration for analysis of cholesterol, bile salts, phospholipids, and crystalline structures. Additionally, sincalide stimulates pancreatic secretion, often in combination with secretin, to enable the evaluation of enzyme activity, composition, and cytology of duodenal fluid.
Beyond its role in diagnostic procedures, sincalide can accelerate the transit of a barium meal through the small intestine, reducing the duration and radiation exposure during fluoroscopic or x-ray examinations. Administered under specialist supervision, sincalide provides a reliable and targeted approach for the assessment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders, enhancing the accuracy of functional and biochemical diagnostics in clinical practice.
